The Feilong Palace of Supreme Harmony For the Nourishment of Life and Culture

The brilliant theory and practice of medicine, change and qigong (the channeling of breath and energy) in Chinese tradition together form the essence of Chinese philosophy and the concept of the nourishment of life, or wellness. It stands at the highest plane of human spiritual civilization. Rooted in antiquity and passing down through the centuries, its influence has spread far and wide and it remains today a unique system and extraordinary functional art unlike any other in the world. At a time when the Chinese have opened their doors wider than ever to better assimilate their own 5,000 years of culture and the cultures and civilizations of the world in order to refine its knowledge of qigong, medicine, revitalizing the body and nourishing life, an increasing number of informed people the world over are eager to learn the mysteries of Chinese traditions in sustaining life and health.

The "Feilong Palace of Supreme Harmony for the Nourishment of Life and Culture" is Grand Master Qi Feilong's (Buddhist title Shedelong) response to this need. A magnificent vision on a unparalleled scale, the plan has already received the approval of the Tianjin Flying Dragon Co., Ltd. and the support and cooperation of Jin Xiaolong, President of the Sino-Japanese Entrepreneurs' Exchange Society. Blueprints are currently being drawn up.

The Feilong Palace will be a joint Chinese and foreign venture operating at the international level. It will be an incorporated company and has autonomy in personnel, business operation, financial management and other respects. The foreign capital shall come from foreign currency investment contributions while investments of technology, sites and facilities shall be compensated with stock issues.

A number of such palace retreats will be situated in well chosen areas where geomantic surveys have proved most favorable -- the Tourism Development Zone in Ji County, Tianjin, the Yanxi Lake in Huairou County, Hebei Province, the Longqing Gorge in Yanqing County, the Jinhai Lake in Pinggu County, the Shaolin Temple on Mt. Gao, and other spots. The first of these Feilong Palace of Supreme Harmony is planned to be located Ji County, Hebei Province. It is estimated to occupy 1,200 mu or c. 200 acres of land, with the area devoted to the cultural center occupying some 40 acres.

The Palace will have a complete range of capabilities in state-of-the-art science and technology, up-to-date information, and upscale artistic and recreational facilities. It shall provide medical and health care, tourist attractions, artistic and music appreciation, cultural entertainment, kung fu training, academic exchanges and astrological and divination consulting. It shall be a comprehensive cultural entity as well as a sophisticated venue of relaxation, recreation and learning.

The building of these palace retreats will mark a milestone in modern-day medical and health care and cultural exchange.

The Feilong Palace will incorporate the following 12 features:

  • The Winding Corridor of History and Art: This provides a review of the highlights of Chinese and world history through artistic imagery. The traditional spirit and character of the Chinese people and other peoples of the world, their brilliant civilizations and achievements, will be portrayed through wall paintings, engravings on monuments and tablets, writings and pictures. The display will not only be informative but will motivate visitors to greater heights of endeavor.
  • Religious and cultural halls: Five great halls each attached with a long gallery will be built in honor of the five great religions of the world: Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity, and Islamism. They will house images of the major representatives of each religion (for Buddhism, images will be erected for the Buddha and ranking buddhas and major disciples in the different sects in China and other countries). There will be written explanations of the major ideas and historical events of each religion, displays of their main scriptures, and legends and folk tales related in the form of wall paintings. An Inn of Eminence will be built for visiting worshippers. A gourmet health food vegetarian restaurant will be opened for the patronage of vegetarians and food connoisseurs. There will also be an astrological studio, where people can find out about their fortunes, the future success or failure of their businesses and undertakings, or select auspicious names and titles.
  • Grand Mansion to Nourish Life and Sustain Health: We will comprehensively apply all the principles of unusual religious schools and of the doctrine of change - such as the Five Primary Elements, the Eight Diagrams, the Color Arrangement (based on the Eight Diagrams), the Eight Orientations, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, the mystic Plan of the Yellow River and Book of the River Luo, the Six Constellations in the South and the Seven Stars of the Big Dipper in the North - in this building. Kung fu instructions will be given under the personal direction of Grand Master Qi Feilong, Headmaster of the Tianjin Flying Dragon Life Nourishing and Health Recovery School. In addition, there will be famous doctors and healers from different places to help people revitalize their health by applying traditional Chinese medicine, qigong, physical and breathing exercises combined with automassage, expiration and inspiration exercises, as well as herbal diets, in order to balance mind and body and treat and cure all kinds of rare diseases.
  • Literary and Art Palace: In the order of Chinese literary and art history, the Literary and Art Palace will display wax effigies of famous literary and art figures or paint them on the walls, along with write-ups of their life and work. There will be halls for literature, opera (including music, song and dance, and videos), painting, calligraphy and sculpture. A hall containing tablets bearing the calligraphic styles of different ages can also be considered.
  • Palace of Folk Culture: The folk cultures of the different ethnicities of ancient China. This will involve their customs and habits, religious beliefs, the way they live, and their marriage, childbirth, and death rites and ceremonies.
  • Cultural Library: This will integrate business services, cultural activities and training. It will have halls displaying and selling books and periodicals, reading rooms, and activities rooms (where contests can be held in riddle-solving, poetry writing and recitation, special topic presentations, calligraphy and painting demonstrations, book discussions and composition). This Library will also give short-term courses in such cultural activities as how to solve riddles, how to write poetry couplets and compose poetry and songs, how to write calligraphy, how to paint, and how to learn foreign languages.
  • Culture and Art Teahouse/Winehouse: This will both do business and provide culture and entertainment. One hall will have tables to serve teas/wines from all countries of the world, as well as health drinks and foods. Another hall shall be devoted to the world's tea/wine culture (tea planting, harvesting, processing, drinking/wine growing and brewing, and poems, writings and anecdotes about tea/wine). The two halls can hold different activities (including tea/wine tasting contests, day or evening tea/wine parties accompanied by song and dance, folk opera, music or operatic music appreciation.) Performers can be professionals or guests. Seasonal flower shows or moon-watching tea/wine parties can also be held. Secluded sections can be set aside for people to talk business and hold small meetings.
  • Central pagoda, arches, portals, and pailou (rows of strangely styled uneven, zigzagging and multi-colored houses): These will demonstrate the styles and features of China's ancient architecture, the I-Ching's (Book of Change) Eight Diagrams and Yin-Yang Diagrams, and traditional feng shui (the geomantic system). Here people can play musical instruments, play chess, write calligraphy, paint and invigorate their health and nourish their life energy, vacation and relax, and undergo medical and health treatment, to the end of increasing their wisdom, prolonging life and tapping hidden potential.
  • The Big Dipper Pagoda: This will be built facing the Big Dipper in order to assimilate the physical magnetic field of the universe and the energy flowing in nature. It provides an ideal environment to practice the Chinese doctrine of change and Chinese medical qigong.
  • The Yin-Yang Palace: This has as its aim the unique cultural, philosophical idea of "integrating heaven and man." It consists of a cluster of palaces including the heavenly palace, the earthly palace, the human harmony palace, the sun palace, the moon palace, the star palace, the leisure palace, the imperial travel lodge, and the imperial palaces. The essence of Chinese culture is subtly infused in the architecture.
  • The Stupa: This shall house a relic of a Chinese Buddhist Master.
  • Guest Hotel: With restaurants, bathhouses, etc.

The Feilong Palace of Supreme Harmony, after completion, will throw open its doors to the world. It especially welcomes elite visitors from China and other countries, including celebrities of the political, scientific, and cultural fields and international business people, travelers, entrepreneurs and superstars. With its unique features of being new, unusual, special, different, upscale, elegant, sophisticated, and spiritual, it cannot fail to win approval and praise. It will be an immediate sensation. Besides its many body and mind-healing benefits, there will no doubt be financial benefits for its investors.

In view of the tremendous contribution the Feilong Palace of Supreme Harmony will make to the culture of the Orient, we want to add the following three things to the plan:

  • A Merit Monument shall be erected on the grounds where the names of company founders and investors, designers and architects, sponsors and contributors will be inscribed to go down in posterity.
  • A club for well-known international celebrities and superstars and a foundation for the advancement of science and technology shall be set up to encourage and give awards to scholars, specialists and inventors and other meritorious people who have made outstanding contributions to science.
  • Vigorous efforts shall be made to publish a newspaper or journal which summarizes, expounds, inherits and develops Chinese traditional cultural practice in nourishing life and preserving health. This shall serve as a link with all people who are fated to be tied to the Palace or who are interested or have opinions on or contributions to Chinese traditional culture. It will publicize the aims and goals of the Feilong Palace and give updates of its activities, carry the views of guests, and suggestions and opinions of society at large. All this will increase the Palace's reputation as the premier life and health-sustaining establishment of the world.
